As Covid-19 restrictions are about to ease, the travel industry is coming back into operation. The airlines are getting ready to serve their devoted customers again, however, with new travel regulations.

Australia’s leading airline Qantas and a low-coster Jetstar are going to increase domestic flights by June and July. As the airlines noted a big demand for them after the long lockdown, they decided to increase their flights. “We know there is a lot of pent up demand for air travel and we are already seeing a big increase in customers booking and planning flights in the weeks and months ahead,” said Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce.

According to the Qantas Group, the capacity of additional services will increase from 5 % from pre-Coronavirus levels to 15 % by the end of June. This equates 300 more return flights per week.

The most increased flights will be operating on the capital city routes like MelbourneSydney and also to-and-from Canberra. Broome, Cairns and Rockhampton will have a big increase in weekly flights too.

The route from Sydney to Byron Bay, which was launched before the lockdown and then was called off, will also start operating.

Qantas already announced their regulations during the flights which includes giving face masks to all the passengers, but they refused to leave seats empty between passengers.

The airline had also changed their cancellation policy. All Qantas and Jetstar domestic customers can change their flight dates once without any fee. All the costumers should make a re-booking before June 30, 2020. Re-booking is possible for flights between June 12 and October 30, 2020.
